Nabatean Avdat Acropolis
On a limestone hill in the center of the desert, the World Heritage Site of Nabatean Avdat Acropolis represents one of the most important cities on the ancient Incense trade route. Founded in the 3rd century BCE and abandoned in the 7th due to a violent earthquake, the city hosted Nabataeans, Romans, and Byzantines. Explore the last remaining relics and ruins of the metropolis, once teeming with agricultural enterprise and benefiting from the great wealth accumulated from perfume and spice trade along the Mediterranean coast. See the remains of the city's fortress, churches, army camp, and houses. Plan your Nabatean Avdat Acropolis visit and explore what else you can see and do in Midreshet Ben-Gurion using our Midreshet Ben-Gurion sightseeing planning site.

Beautiful and peaceful place, you can walk or going up with a car, there is a toilet at the beginning of the way, there is no toilet after it. Recommend this place for a nice quiet and peaceful trip.

Very interesting archeological site. Those anchient Naabatiens were crazy dudes, making wine in the middle of the desert. The site is well maintained and very interesting. It can get very hot/cold so try to visit during transitional seasons.
